FIDE has approved the “Total Chess World Championship Tour,” a new format by Norway Chess, combining Fast Classical, Rapid, and Blitz to find the “Total Chess Player.” The tour, featuring four events annually with a $2.7 million prize pool, aims to innovate chess. A pilot event is set for autumn 2026, with the full season in 2027.
